Question: What does "organic" mean?
Answer: A lot of treats are labeled with friendly sounding terms like "natural" and "organic" but in actuality they aren't made with human-grade ingredients (ie. they contain fillers and other nasty stuff), they are only partially made with natural ingredients, or they are made outside the U.S. A Dog's LifeTM treats are hand-baked in small batches with 100% natural, local, human-grade ingredients. In addition, A Dog's LifeTM is the first and only dog food company to shamelessly promote its packaging with pictures of its customers.
Answer: Organic food is produced according to legally regulated standards. For crops, it means they were grown without the use of pesticides or artificial fertilizers. For animals, it means they were reared in a humane way without the routine use of antibiotics or growth hormones. Also, organic food is produced without the use of genetically modified organisms (GMO). Organic food contains the stuff we need (beneficial minerals, essential amino acids and vitamins), without the bad stuff that we don't need (artificial colors, flavors, BHA, hydrogenated fats, pesticides, preservatives, by-products, genetically modified crops). Organic farmers don't use chemical fertilizers that pollute our waters and are linked to higher rates of cancer.
